Riot of colours and creativity at 'Sangam', charms City's fashionistas !

Hyderabad, September 18th, 2016: Sangam- ‘The Weaving Journey’ – a confluence of Creators, Makers and Buyers of apparels and accessories, hosted by Rajini Sarees to commemorate its Silver Jubilee celebrations, powered by Cybercity Builders & Developers and conceived and executed by Event Partners, Ellanar Events, was formally inaugurated by Ms Kavitha Kalvakuntla, Member of Parliament, on Sunday at ‘N’ Convention.

Ms Pinky Reddy, Ms Shilpa Reddy, Ms Daggubati Purandeshwari, Ms DK Aruna, Ms Uma Reddy, Ms Naga Suseela, Ms Shobana Kamineni, Ms Deepthi Reddy, Ms Sapthala Reddy and several other celebs & socialites visited the two dayexhibition and were enamored by the talent, skill and creativity in the works of the craftsmen. Weavers of Jamdani, Banaras, Ikat, etc, printers from Banaras and Mumbai, are exhibiting their works amongst others, on this unique platform.

Speaking on the occasion Ms Kavitha said, I congratulate Rajini for this wonderful exhibition which brought the weavers from across the country on one platform and for hosting it in Hyderabad. It’s a fantastic gesture towards encouraging and promoting the weavers and their craftsmanship. They contribute 5% to our GDP and in return they hardly get any support from the governments. Gandhiji through his charka promoted handlooms and another Gandhi needs to come to revive this dying tradition. Several families dependant on handloom have lost their traditional jobs and the craftsmanship is slowly dissipating. It’s time that Governments should come forward to support and revive the craftsmanship and the weavers, Telangana government is putting its efforts in this direction, she said.

“Sangam is our way of supporting our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji’s clarion call for Make in India, says Rajini Yarlagadda, owner of Rajini Sarees. There is vast scope for the Indian fabric, which can fit any sort of fashion. What is weaved here is based on the climatic conditions of each region, thus making them completely viable in terms of comfort. However, this tradition and craftsmanship is losing its sheen in the competitive world due to sheer lack of exposure to the new generation, our effort is to revive and bring back that charm, she adds.”

Rajini Sarees, a name to reckon with for elegant and chic sarees, is celebrating twenty fiveyears ofadulation it won from the connoisseurs of fashion, by felicitating and paying tribute to the real heroes behind its success- the weavers and printers through this unique event ‘Sangam.’
Sangam reflects the rich and diverse culture of India which nurtures different styles of textiles and fabric. These fabrics and weaving techniques have been evolving for ages and have been commended globally.
